Nothing is working!! Help!

Stephanie D. from Akron, OH asks...
I count my calories religiously and always stay around 1000 calories per day. But lately I cannot seem to lose a pound? What am I doing wrong?
There are lots of possibilities here, but let me start with the most likely problems:

1. Eating the wrong types of foods for your body:
Your body is a beautiful piece of machinery designed to perform best on a specific type of diet. Just like you wouldn't try to put diesel fuel in your regular car, you shouldn't expect your body to function on foods it wasn't designed for. All too often when I hear this complaint, people are eating a low-fat, low-calorie diet thinking this will help them lose weight quickly. Unfortunately, when you're not eating fat, you're generally eating lots of carbohydrates (sugars, starches), which for many of us can actually provoke weight gain! For someone with Insulin Resistance, this can be the worst thing you can do. If you join our Premium Membership, we will help you find out the best eating plan for your body.

2. Eating too few calories:
Sometimes too much of a good thing can turn around and bite us in the butt... LITERALLY! If you are exercising like a fiend and eating 1000 calories a day, you're body thinks it's starving. This will set off what we call "Starvation Mode". (link to Thin-TV segment) Your body will start burning muscle instead of fat, and will effectively shut down your metabolism. Your weight will plateau, and if you cheat even a little, your body will suck all those extra calories up and store them right where you don't want them... as fat on your hips, belly or... you guessed it... YOUR BUTT!

3. Not doing the right exercises:
All too often people think they can lose weight with diet alone. But there really is no such thing as a free lunch... even if it IS dietetic! Dieting without exercise is like a dog chasing its tail ... you eat less, and your body just burns less. And trust me, this is one race you will NEVER win. To maintain your metabolism, you MUST exercise, and ideally with both strength training (to maintain lean muscle mass) as well as cardiovascular (to burn calories and stay fit)

4. The missing puzzle pieces:
At Thin-site, we believe that permanent weight loss can only be attained if you UNDERSTAND WHAT GOT YOU FAT IN THE FIRST PLACE! Often there are hidden barriers preventing you from losing that you are completely unaware of. Use this site, or join our Premium Membership, to help you uncover your personal barriers. Doing so will help you build an "Owner's Manual To Your Body." Once you understand how your body works, you can begin the path to healthy, long term weight loss.
